Treatment of Dental Injuries

Dental injuries can happen quickly from falls, sports, play, or other unexpected accidents. An injury may affect the teeth, gums, lips, or surrounding tissues, and prompt evaluation can help determine the best next step.

Treatment depends on the type and severity of the injury and whether a baby or permanent tooth is involved. Some injuries may only need monitoring, while others may require repositioning or stabilizing a tooth, repairing damage, or additional treatment to protect the tooth and surrounding tissues.

At Little Roots, we’ll carefully evaluate the injury, keep your child comfortable, and recommend an individualized approach focused on preserving their natural teeth whenever possible. Dental trauma requires long-term follow-up, even when a tooth looks and feels normal after the initial injury. Changes can develop over time, so we’ll continue to monitor the injured tooth and surrounding structures as your child grows.

This page describes clinical care in general terms and is written for parents. It is not advice about your individual child.
