Airway & Oral Function

Airway and Soft Tissue Screening

At Little Roots, we look beyond the teeth. As part of your child’s routine dental visits, we screen the mouth and surrounding structures for signs that may relate to breathing, sleep, oral function, growth, and development.

We may look at your child’s tonsils, palate, tongue position and mobility, lips, breathing pattern, and other oral structures while also asking about things you notice at home, such as snoring, mouth breathing, or restless sleep.

Screening does not mean every finding needs treatment. If something deserves a closer look, we’ll discuss what we see and whether a more comprehensive evaluation or referral to another healthcare provider may be appropriate.

This page describes clinical care in general terms and is written for parents. It is not advice about your individual child.
